Baking soda (2 tablespoons) White vinegar A clear cup or small bottle A tray or plate (to catch overflow) Measuring spoon Food coloring (optional - red or orange) Dish soap (optional - makes it foamier) Pencil & this worksheet

⚠️ Safety: Do this outside or over a sink. Vinegar can sting eyes - do not splash. Wear old clothes or an apron. Ask a grown-up to help.

1 Place the cup on the tray. Add 1 spoonful of baking soda to the cup. 2 Trial 1: Add 1 spoonful of vinegar. Watch the eruption! Measure how high it bubbles. 3 Trial 2: Clean the cup. Add 1 spoonful of baking soda. Add 3 spoonfuls of vinegar. Measure the eruption. 4 Trial 3 (optional): Add dish soap + food coloring. Try again! Measure. 5 Record your results in the chart below. Which eruption was tallest?
